The Ridge That Says Nothing
THE HIGH TRAIL · GUIDED BY CUT SHORT · HE NEVER SPEAKS — YOU READ HIM
On this trail there are no words. Your guide has no mouth — the lab kept everything above
the belt. Watch his legs, his fox tail, his pig tail — and the mountain will do the rest of the talking.
Trail survived — in silence.
You read two tails, a scree field, the wind and the stone stacks — and the ridge let you pass without a single word.

Real-World Trail Card — The Silent Ridge
Take this to the Desert de les Palmes natural park (above Benicàssim): the classic
family climb to el Bartolo (Monte Bartolo, 729 m) — or any hill trail near you. The whole card is done
WITHOUT talking. Point, gesture, read:
- ☐ Find a real PR trail mark — two painted stripes, white over yellow. That's the mountain's own language.
- ☐ Spot a cairn (a little tower of stacked stones) and add ONE stone — gently, like Cut Short would.
- ☐ Cross a rocky stretch stepping only on the big, buried stones — the ones that don't wobble.
- ☐ When the wind hits the ridge, crouch low like a fox and feel how much quieter it gets.
- ☐ At the top: one full silent minute. Then point at everything you can name — the sea, the islands
on a clear day, the orange groves, your town.
Trail rules: bring your grown-up and water · sun hat in summer · stay on the marked path
(shortcuts wound the mountain) · the silence is part of the game — hand signals only.
